CANVAS ARTIST SERIES CONTEST
Win a $5,000 scholarship!
One winner for each varietal wine will receive a $5,000 scholarship and have their artwork featured as a label on a special bottling of Canvas Wines.
The Hyatt and Canvas Artist Series contest will be open for submissions June 15 - August 15, 2010. Art students from an accredited art school or program may create an original artistic representation of the varietal characteristics of the three main Canvas Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot using original artwork.
VARIETAL DESCRIPTIONS
Artwork must reflect the contestant's artistic interpretation of the varietal characteristics of one of Canvas Wines.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON: Cedar, tobacco, rich dark fruit, and hints of oak and spice.
CHARDONNAY: Pure fruit and toasty oak.
MERLOT: Pure fruit, toasty spice and rich, ripe tannins.
ARTWORK SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
During the Submission Period, Entrants must visit www.canvasartistseries.com (the "Website") to enter the contest.
To enter, you must:
a. Create an original artwork depiction of the varietal characteristics of one (1) of the Canvas Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay or Merlot ("Artwork"). The varietal characteristics to choose from are as follows: cedar, tobacco, rich dark fruit, and hints of oak and spice for Cabernet Sauvignon; pure fruit and toasty oak for Chardonnay; or pure fruit, toasty spice and rich, ripe tannins for Merlot (collectively, the "Varietal Characteristics");
b. Provide according to the on-screen links and instructions at the Website, your full name and contact information, including mailing and email address and phone number, for contact and notice purposes hereinafter;
c. Write and submit through the Website a brief description of the following two (2) topics (each must be one-hundred (100) words or less): (i) Tell us about yourself and why you aspire to be an artist; and (ii) Share the inspiration and story behind the Artwork (these writings may be referred to collectively or individually as "Essays"). Essays must not describe or discuss the drinking of alcohol; and
d. Upload through the Website an electronic version, photograph, scan or copy of the original Artwork in .jpg format, at least 72 dpi, and no larger than 2 MB in size ("Artwork Copy").
Original Entrant Content must meet the following requirements in Sponsor's sole discretion or may be disqualified:
a. Final original Artwork must be a two- (2-) dimensional form of visual art, which may include, but is not limited to, paint on canvas, graphic illustrations, watercolor, charcoal, ink or pencil. Artwork in the form of photography and art in three- (3-) dimensional or non-visual form, such as sculptures, will not be accepted;
b. Creatively depict the Varietal Characteristics of one (1) of the Canvas Wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay or Merlot. i.e. cedar, tobacco, rich dark fruit, and hints of oak and spice for Cabernet Sauvignon; pure fruit and toasty oak for Chardonnay; or pure fruit, toasty spice and rich, ripe tannins for Merlot (collectively, the "Varietal Characteristics";
c. Original Artwork must be 24 inches wide by 20 inches tall (24"x20"). Electronic Copy of the original artwork must be in .jpg format (at least 72 dpi, and no larger than 2 MB in size);
d. If selected as a Finalist, based on Section 5 below, Artwork must be provided to Sponsor in its original 24" x 20" form;
e. Essays must be written in English; and
f. Essay for each of the two (2) topics must be no longer than one-hundred (100) words each.
